Hello!

Today I would like to introduce you a legendary story about Benkei and Yoshitsune.
(Actually I did not know the story very well either...I just found a picture about it and did a quick research :P)
That story is so famous that people in hundred years ago made it into a "NOH (能)" story!

But! I am not a great story teller, so I just guide you to websites that explain the story well in English. lol

There you go!

...Did you read the story?
I hope that made you interested in other "NOH (能)" stories as well!!

Last night I found cool pictures when I got to the office!!

SN3T0020.jpg
Those are part of the famous paintings created by Hiroshige Utagawa.
The name is "The Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō"!!

He made many paintings of Tokaido, one of the biggest and the most important streets in Japan. Those paintings together make one big series of pictures, "The Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō."

You wanna see other parts too?

The scenery painted in these pictures show us how beautiful it can be in each season.

Please come to Japan to experience four seasons!! lol

New Staff Introduction

IMG_1896.JPGHello world! Today I am borrowing Maria`s account to introduce myself.

My name is Linn and this is my first week as a trainee at Sakura Hotel Jimbocho.

My family is from Hokkaido but I have spent the majority of my life in Canada. I am from a small town in Ontario called Brampton, which is next door to Toronto and known for its multicultural community, thrifty malls, and delicious Indian cuisine.

My hobbies include reading and fashion, though it has been said that I have questionable taste in both. I also enjoy eating. A lot. Especially foods with little to no nutritional value. My current obsession is every available flavor of Häagen-Dazs ice cream in Japan which is admittedly a little pricey but so worth it. I also love eggs.

I hope to be able to contribute to the Sakura House and Hotel community and interact with our visitors, while helping give everyone a great experience in Tokyo. I believe that our hotels and hostels are a great way to enjoy the country without breaking the bank and making new friends. Jimbocho is especially a lovely, relaxing area with easy access to all of Tokyo and particularly close to Akihabara.

Hope to see you soon at Sakura Hotel and Cafe in Jimbocho!

Hi there!

My name is Maria and I just started working here at Sakura Hotel Jimbocho!

This is my first blog entry, so I thought I would introduce myself.

First thing is first, I am originally Greek, but was born and raised in Sweden.
(No I am not tall and blond...)

I like cheese... and raamen... and beer! Among other things.

And that is about it!
If you have any questions for me, just drop down Sakura Cafe for a chat!

Hope to see you soon!

Today is my first day at work after coming back from Mongolia!

I went for 6 days and stayed with a family in the countryside for 4 days, I did everything from milk cows, see the milky way and nearly freeze when it snowed!

Mongolia is an amazing country, full of natural beauty and friendly people.  There is a lot of empty space to relax!

mongolpic1.jpg

The food is mostly meat, sheep's meat as you can see here!

mongolpic.jpg

I even stayed in a ger, or a type of hut.  There is no toilet so you have to walk as far as you can from the ger!!!  And not forget your toilet paper!

mongolpic2.jpg

Of course I didn't forget to bring some presents back for everyone!  Some Mongolian chocolate...

mongol 002.jpg

For some reason there was one half in the bag....

mongol 001.jpg

Never mind, I am sure someone will eat it!

I really recommend Mongolia for a holiday, especially if you have a strong stomach!

Here we are in the height of summer and it seems like every day it is over 35 degrees.  It really makes you tired and it is difficult to get any energy to do anything.

Of course, I'm from a country where it does not really get hotter than 30 degrees so I am especially badly affected... as you can see in this picture

熱中症 001.jpg

So my helpful colleagues suggested that I do something to become genki again.  The first thing was to protect my head and stop heat stroke by wearing the lovely paper bag (see above photo).

The next was to drink lots of water so not to get dehydrated
熱中症 002.jpg

熱中症 003.jpg

So I drank all of the water they gave to me and....

熱中症 004.jpg

became genki!

What we are trying to say is don't forget to wear a protective sun hat and drink plenty of water when you go out and about in Tokyo!

Yesterday Kozue from our Hatagaya branch came to help out with the One Piece festival rush.  We set her straight to work in the cafe making our special drinks and she soon got the hang of everything.

The only thing she didn't seem too enthusiastic about was the big pink Chopper hat....

I think it quite suits her...

Anyway, thank you for coming to help us out!

It is already the 12th July, how time flies...yet here in Tokyo we are still right in middle of rainy season (we've all had enough already!)

Anyway today me and Irina went out for lunch through the wind and rain!  We went to Chiyoda Ward Office where there is a restaurant on the 10th floor.  We could see Tokyo Tower and Roppongi and had lunch for just 500yen.

Unfortunately on the way back this happened!

broken傘 002.jpg      broken傘 004.jpg

People in the cars driving past all pointed and laughed at us....

Well, I suppose this is what you get when you buy an umbrella for 100yen...

And then things got even worse when Irina got caught by Bati-chan!  Run Irina, RUN!

Ah too late.......
